About Météo Belge
An independent Belgian weather service, built to say things clearly: what is going to happen, where, when, and what it means for you.
What Météo Belge is
Météo Belge is a Belgian weather service, independent and open to everyone. The website and the app bring together in one place the forecast for where you live, current warnings, real-time observations and climate data, in French, Dutch, German and English.
We are not an official body and we do not pretend to be one. Our aim is different: to make the weather readable, local and honest for the people who need it every day, from the parent wondering whether a coat is needed to the contractor deciding whether to open a site tomorrow morning.
How we forecast
A forecast that relies on a single model is a fragile forecast: two models can announce two different days. So we start from a consensus of several high-resolution models, each used where it performs best: the fine-scale models for the first two days, the European and global models beyond that.
This consensus is then reviewed and corrected by our forecaster. He is the one who decides when the models disagree, who tempers a poorly calibrated thunderstorm risk and who writes the comments.
Every day that passes is compared with what was forecast. When the gap is real, the engine is corrected. It is not spectacular, but it is what makes a forecast improve over time.

Our commitment
Who is behind Météo Belge
Behind this website there is a person, not a newsroom. My name is Michaël Vincent, I live in Charleroi, and I have always been passionate about the weather.
I am not a trained meteorologist, and I will never present myself as one. I am an enthusiast who became a forecaster: I learnt by watching the sky, by comparing what was forecast with what actually fell, by getting it wrong and starting again the next day. Years of that routine end up teaching you a great deal.
In practice, every day I go through what the models are forecasting for Belgium, I decide when they contradict each other, and I write the comments, the warnings and the forecast bulletins. When I get it wrong, I say so and I correct it, rather than letting it slide.
That is also why Météo Belge exists: to make the weather readable, local and honest, in everyday words.
A website designed by Weblunor
The Météo Belge website and its app for iPhone and Android were designed and developed by Weblunor, a web design agency in Belgium and France, which also runs them day to day.
Weblunor is also Michaël's agency: from design to hosting, from the maps and the radar to the app, everything comes out of the same workshop.
