Lightning live, flash by flash

This map shows every flash detected in real time over Belgium and Europe, thanks to the collaborative Blitzortung network and its thousands of detection stations. Strikes appear the second they happen, colour-coded by age: you can literally watch the storm live, move and fade.

The strike counter for the last hour, the activity curve for the last 24 hours and the tracking by country complete the map: you can see at a glance whether thunder is rumbling somewhere, how strongly, and whether activity is building or easing. During thunderstorm episodes, the page runs continuously, like a real observation centre.
