☀️ Wednesday 28 October: the sun makes a grand return
🌙 Tonight: the sky clears, cooler air returns
The last weak rainfall is clearing the east and south of the country this evening. Behind it, the sky is clearing widely and fresher air is arriving from the north-west. The High Fens remain trapped in low cloud and mist, and a band of fog cannot be ruled out in Gaume. No precipitation is expected.
🌅 Wednesday morning: clear and fresh sky
You'll wake to a clear sky almost everywhere, in air noticeably fresher than these past few days: 5 to 8°C in the lowlands, 3 to 5°C in the Ardennes. Gaume and the Fens are the exception, under low cloud that's slow to lift. A light jumper will be welcome when you head outside.
☀️ Wednesday afternoon: bright sunshine
De bright spells are imposing themselves across the whole country, scarcely disrupted by a few fair weather clouds which form between noon and 17:00. It is 13 à 15°C on the plain, up to 15°C at the coast and in western Hainaut, and 9 à 12°C on the Ardennes. The peaks in the east keep their low clouds a bit longer. This is the perfect time for a walkdry your washing or enjoy a terrace.
🌙 Wednesday evening: starry skies, temperatures dropping quickly
As darkness falls, Hesbaye et la the Campine cool down rapidly under clear skies. Low cloud hangs on the ridges in the east. Expect a warm jacket if you go out; the weather remains perfectly dry.
🌍 Why this return of the sun?
An anticyclone of 1030 hPa is settling over central France. It's blocking weather systems: the Atlantic depression (974 hPa) remains far out to sea off Ireland with its rain, whilst to the north, a cold front is moving across Norway, well away from us. By the end of the week, the anticyclone shifts towards the North Sea and the wind turns to the east.
💨 The wind
The wind remains light, from the west: gusts of 20 to 30 km/h inland, 35 km/h near the coast. It drops to almost nothing in the evening.

📅 What's next? Sunshine and morning mists until Saturday
Thursday 29 October: cold night, mist then sunshine
Under clear skies, the night would be cold: 1 to 7°C, with a risk of frost on the Ardennes plateaus. Mist would spread to many valleys in the south (Famenne, Gaume, towards the German border), often thick. Once cleared, sunshine would take over in the lowlands, with 11 to 15°C and a light easterly wind.
Friday 30 October: bright sunshine
Patches of mist would form again in Famenne, in the Campine and along the Meuse, before bright sunshine across all ten provinces in the afternoon. It would be 11 to 15°C, in calm and cool air.
Saturday 31 October: widespread mist, then blue sky
An extensive fog could affect the west and centre in the morning, from the coast to Walloon Brabant. It would gradually lift to make way for a clear blue sky in the afternoon, with 10 to 14°C. For Halloween, the evening would be cool and dry.
