🌤️ Saturday 24 October: a lull, then rain and a strong gust

🌙 Tonight: Austen moves away

Rain linked to storm Austen gradually withdraws eastwards. It stops around 3-4 am over Flanders and Hainaut, but lingers until early morning over Limburg, Liège Province and the Ardennes. Wind weakens slowly inland, but remains strong on the coast, with gusts of 75 to 90 km/h until the early hours. The air cools noticeably: 3 to 10°C at dawn, with the lowest temperatures recorded over the High Fens.

☀️ Saturday morning: sunshine returns

The sun makes a noticeable comeback behind the weather system, especially over the west and centre of the country. Cloud remains more widespread over the Campine and the High Fens, with a few showers still possible early in the morning. Over the Ardennes plateau and in Gaume, the sky remains more overcast. Wind weakens to 40 to 55 km/h, slightly stronger near the sea. This is the perfect time to clear up what Austen brought down in your garden.

☁️ Saturday afternoon: clouds return

Clouds return quickly and the sky becomes very cloudy over most regions. Light rain reaches the coast, West Flanders and western Hainaut around 15:00-16:00. Liège Province stays dry until evening. It will be 12 to 13°C on the plains, 8 to 10°C over the Ardennes.

  • Brussels, Brabants and Namur: around 19:00-20:00
  • Liège, Limburg and the Ardennes: around 20:00-21:00

This spell of strong wind is linked to storm Boelo, which is mainly affecting the United Kingdom. Here, no storm this time.
